The Real Book Plug is a book rental service. Unless otherwise stated, books received through a rental subscription remain the property of The Real Book Plug and must be returned according to the terms below.
RENTAL PERIOD & DUE DATES
Each rental has a designated return date. Your books must be returned by the due date provided for your rental.
A book is considered returned on time as long as it has been dropped off or mailed and received an acceptance scan from the carrier by the due date. It does not have to physically arrive back to The Real Book Plug by that date.
2-WEEK EXTENSIONS & LATE RENTALS
Need a little more time? A two-week extension may be purchased before your rental is due.
If a book is not returned by its due date and an extension has not already been purchased, the applicable extension/late fee may be automatically charged to the payment method on file. Payment of this fee extends the rental period by two additional weeks; it does not transfer ownership of the book.
If the book remains unreturned after the extended rental period, additional action may be taken in accordance with our Terms & Conditions, including charges associated with an unreturned or lost book.
OUTSTANDING RENTALS & FUTURE SHIPMENTS
If two previous rental shipments remain outstanding, additional shipments will not be sent until at least one of those outstanding rentals is returned.
While shipments are on hold, subscription billing will continue as scheduled unless the subscription is canceled in accordance with our cancellation policy.
Returning an overdue book does not trigger an immediate or replacement shipment for a previously missed month. Once the account is eligible to receive rentals again, service resumes with the next regularly scheduled shipment.
BOOK CONDITION
We expect normal wear — these books are meant to be read and loved. However, renters are responsible for excessive damage, including significant water or liquid damage, missing or torn pages, writing or highlighting, strong odors, or other damage that makes a book unsuitable for future rentals.
Books that are lost, not returned, or returned with excessive damage may result in a replacement charge to the payment method on file.
RETURN SHIPPING
Please use the return instructions and packaging provided by The Real Book Plug when applicable. We strongly recommend obtaining and keeping your carrier receipt or tracking information until your return has been received.
CANCELLATIONS & PREPAID RENTALS
Canceling a subscription stops future recurring charges when cancellation is completed before the next scheduled billing date. Cancellation does not refund or cancel a rental cycle that has already been paid for.
If a rental cycle has already been paid before cancellation, that final rental remains part of the subscription and will be fulfilled according to the regular shipping schedule.
